Is a permit needed from the JCGHD to install or alter a septic system in Jefferson County?

A permit is needed from the JCGHD prior to the installation or alteration of any septic system in Jefferson County.

If you are planning to construct a new home in Jefferson County, Ohio you must contact the JCGHD for a permit prior to the start of construction of the new home or manufactured home.

Applications for a septic system permit can be received by contacting the Environmental Division of the Jefferson County General Health District at  (740) 283-8530.  Also, for a copy of the HJDS Rules of the JCGHD or chapter 3701-29 of the HSDS rules of the AOC, contact the Environmental Division at (740) 283-8530.
