Health Commissioner

Jefferson County (OH) General Health District is accepting resumes for the position of a full time Health Commissioner. The selected candidate should meet the qualifications set forth in the Ohio Revised Code 3709.11. Must hold a minimum of a master’s degree. Preference may be given to candidates with experience or a degree in a health-related field. Candidate should possess a minimum of three years in a senior management/leadership position. Duties will include oversight and coordination of: accreditation and quality improvement; assessment; policy development and program planning; personnel planning and staff supervision; oral and written communications; public health sciences; environmental and sanitarian services; financial planning, public budgets and management. Successful candidates should have demonstrated leadership and diplomacy with varied stakeholders; be able to work collaboratively with township and municipal leaders to assure expectations for public health services are met; and serve on health committees as needed. A valid driver’s license with insurance and the ability to pass a background and drug screening upon hire are necessary. Medical Director

Jefferson County (OH) General Health District is accepting resumes for the position of a part-time Medical Director. The selected candidate should meet the qualifications set forth in the Ohio Revised Code 3709.11 and must hold a medical degree. Candidate should possess a minimum of three years in a senior management/leadership position. Duties will include the clinical supervision of the Health Department activities with an emphasis on medical oversight; development of standards of medical care throughout the agency and providing medical direction to the clinical staff as well as advising the agency in matters of medical policy. The Medical Director must hold an active and unrestricted license to practice medicine and be able to prescribe medication. Additionally, occasional medical services and oversight will be required.

The Medical Director will partner with the Health Commissioner and Board of Health to provide leadership consultation on matters of accreditation and quality improvement; assessment; policy development and program planning; clinical personnel planning and staff supervision; public health sciences; environmental and sanitarian services; financial planning, public budgets and management; demonstrate leadership and diplomacy with varied stakeholders; work collaboratively with township and municipal leaders to assure expectations for public health services are met; and serve on health committees as needed.
